Marma Therapy and Acupressure

Marma Therapy

Marma are sensitive points that are serving as gates between body's physical and energetic levels. Marma are vital points in the body stimulating which, physical strength and working of nervous system can be improved through this therapy. The vital energies of the body run through 72,000 subtle channels known as nadis. Obstruction , blockage , deviation in flow of these energies cause imbalance. That leads to uneasiness and disease. Eliminating the obstruction in gross and subtle channels in the body and allowing free flow of vital energies is the basic idea behind Marma Therapy.

This therapy combines pressing marma points in a similar way as pressing acupressure points. More precision is required here given the sensitivity of the marma points and the energy it entails. This can also be done in the form of oil massages; where the choice of oil depends on the needs of the individual client. An hour long massage at the marma points followed by hot steam opens up the pores of the physical body and improves blood circulation and opens up the system to receive more oxygen in the body. The more the body receives oxygen, more are the toxins flushed out making the client feel light in body and mind and more revitalised.

Acupressure

Aupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to press key points('energy centers' , also called 'acupoints') on the surface of the skin to stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. When these acupressure points are pressed, they release muscular tension and promote the circulation of blood and the body's life force energy to aid healing. The accumulation of toxins causes stiffness throughout the body. Stiffness in muscles puts abnormal pressure on nerves, and blood and lymph vessels thus disturbing their normal rhythm and thereby bringing imbalance in the body.
Acupressure treats the body as an energy system and works to relieve person’s individual symptoms by identifying and releasing 'blocked', or 'congested' energy centers in the body. It stimulates and activates the body’s own energies to help fight illness and restore harmony. It can help alleviate ailments such as tension, stress, aches and pains, arthritis or menstrual cramps. It can also be used for general preventative health care. Migraines, insomnia, depression, toothache, dizziness, muscular tension, menstrual pain, digestive problems, constipation, morning sickness, stress, poor memory, poor concentration are some of the problems which are being helped by acupressure therapy.
